Bill Mathis won the 2019 First Chapter Award from the Chicago Writer’s Association for his fourth novel, Revenge is Necessary. He won the 2015 Wisconsin Writer’s Association Jade Ring Contest for nonfiction and was an honored guest author at at the 2019 Carl Sandburg Literary Awards. His well developed characters include the disabled, minorities, immigrants, LGBTQ+, foster children and foster parents, sinners and angels, and lots of secrets and surprises. He has four novels published through a small press and two more are in progress. Bill began writing after retiring from careers in YMCA resident camping and foster care. He enjoys writing, reading, travel, photography and volunteering. Bill and his partner reside in Beloit, Wisconsin.
