A gang of goblins sits across from the Well Spring bank, building a device in the back of their car. Due to the loss of a team member, they are waiting for another contact to arrive, so they may enter the bank and relieve the vault of its treasures without harming any humans. Three shadows hid in a light brown sedan across from the Well Spring bank. Across the street, patrons walked up a few steps and through the bronze revolving doors to deliver their weekly deposits. The doors spun, revealing a security guard with a black holstered gun, protecting the century old bank from the thieves about to rob it.
A rusted, green dumpster stood slightly in front of the car hiding in the darkness of the alley. The trash piled inside forced the lid open. Bags had torn and their contents spilled down the container. A pile of cigarettes smoldered below the passenger window, wisps of smoke danced into the air, adding to the growing trash heap.
A scratchy, hoarse voice asked, “How long has it been, Rags?”
“An hour.” Rags sucked on the end of his cigarette and tapped it against the rolled-down window, dropping the ashes to the ground. “He’ll be here, Gris.”
Griswold tapped the steering wheel with his thin, weathered fingers. His nails scratched at the leather with their dull, stained tips. “He better be. This goes down today. With or without him.” He gripped the wheel tightly. His purple hued skin whitened around the knuckles.
