I wrote my first script while in my 6th period class as a senior in high school. I was so bored (sorry Mrs. Noonan) I decided to pull out my folder and start writing. I finished my first draft in a couple of months. It had to be one of the greatest stories ever told! Almost 20 years later, I ran across that very screenplay and almost cried. It was trash. However, with a little bit of care, I think that script would make a fine fantasy trilogy (future project).

The ability to express one’s self through various genres is probably one of the greatest self-healing practices underlying creative writing. I had no idea about that aspect until I started writing as an adult. Songs are more of a direct output of emotions because you say whatever it is that you want to say. Creative writing, for me at least, led me into discovering things I didn’t realize affected me until a random epiphanic moment struck, and I noticed the characters I were creating had my flaws…and my afflictions.

Being the introvert that I am (as most authors seem to be), there are entire worlds in my head which consist of fantasied characters that feel a lot like family.

Welcome to the mind of a madman.
