American detective fiction writer Delano Ames (May 29, 1906 – January 1987) was the author of some 20 books, many of them featuring the husband-and-wife detective team Dagobert and Jane Brown. A later series of novels involved a character named Juan Lorca, of the Spanish Civil Guard, who solved local mysteries. Almost all of Delano Ames’s books were out of print when Manor Minor Press began to republish them, but their dry wit and the lively dynamic between Dagobert and Jane have long earned them a cult following.
