Tinney Sue Heath’s background is in journalism, but it was very nearly in music instead. When she is not writing about medieval Italy, you will probably find her playing the music her characters would have listened to on a variety of peculiar-looking early instruments. Or possibly planning, embarking on, or basking in the glow of her latest trip to Italy.

She takes a particular interest in the medieval men and women who have been forgotten by history–the powerless, the marginalized, the invisible. There’s many a story to be found lurking in the footnotes, and these are the stories she loves to find and tell.

She lives in Madison, Wisconsin with her husband, who fortunately shares her love for early music, medieval history, and Italy.
